From bustling Hanoi to lantern-lit Hoi An, here’s everything you need to plan an unforgettable trip to Vietnam
Essential Guide to Planning an Unforgettable Trip to Vietnam
From the buzz of Hanoi’s Old Quarter to the peaceful lantern-lit streets of Hoi An, Vietnam is a destination that captures your heart the moment you arrive. Whether you're craving vibrant culture, rich history, mouthwatering cuisine, or breathtaking landscapes, Vietnam offers it all — and then some.

If you’ve ever dreamed of sipping Vietnamese coffee on a quiet morning, cruising past limestone cliffs in Halong Bay, or exploring ancient temples tucked between modern life, this journey is for you.
Let’s dive into the highlights of an unforgettable Vietnam adventure.
Hanoi: Energy, History & Street Food Heaven
Our adventure began in Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital — a vibrant blend of old and new. Narrow streets buzz with scooters, food stalls, and laughter. Must-do experiences include:
Wandering the Old Quarter (and getting lost in the best way)
Watching a traditional Water Puppet Show
Enjoying a street food tour (hello, bún chả and egg coffee! 🍜☕)
Pro tip: Don’t leave without trying pho at a hole-in-the-wall spot where locals eat.
Halong Bay: A Dream on the Water
Next up: Halong Bay, one of Vietnam’s most iconic sights. We boarded an overnight cruise that glided between emerald waters and limestone karsts. It felt like sailing through a postcard.
Highlights:
Kayaking through hidden caves
Sunset cocktails on the deck
Tai Chi at sunrise (yes, really!)
Hue & Da Nang: Temples, History, and Beach Vibes
In Hue, we stepped into the past, exploring imperial tombs and the Forbidden Purple City. This city is rich with history and charm — and far less touristy than other spots.
A short drive away is Da Nang, where golden beaches and modern cafes meet Vietnamese hospitality. It’s a great place to slow down and soak up some sun.
Hoi An: Lanterns, Tailor Shops & Magical Nights
Our final stop was Hoi An, a town that truly stole our hearts. Known for its glowing lanterns and preserved Old Town, Hoi An feels like stepping back in time.
Favorite moments:
Designing custom clothes at one of the local tailor shops
Riding bikes through rice paddies
Floating lanterns down the river at night
And of course — the food. Hoi An is a culinary dream.
Where to Stay
Vietnam has amazing accommodation options, from boutique hotels to luxurious beachside resorts. Some of our favorite stays included:
Hanoi La Siesta Hotel – Elegant and central
Indochina Sails (Halong Bay) – Gorgeous overnight cruise
Allegro Hoi An – Boutique charm near Old Town
